Proud coaches Milan and Heidi Stanovich stand with (L to R) Ashley Smith, Emilie LeBlanc, Alliah Harrison and Lauren Kent.
Sonshine Gymnastics, owned by Heidi and Milan Stanovich, opened their doors in 2004 in a small suite on Thomas Mill Rd. in the Holly Springs Industrial Park. An expansion, increasing their facility to 18,000 square feet, has just been completed to accommodate the growing recreational roster and the competitive team. The team, competing under USA Gymnastics, has proven to be a competitive program both in the state of North Carolina and across the nation.
As a testimony to their success and excellence in the sport, four of their current gymnasts have signed college letters of intent for scholarships with Division I gymnastics programs.
• Ashley Smith, of Holly Springs High School (2017 graduate) and daughter of Greg and Terri Smith, signed with Auburn University for a 4-year full scholarship.
• Emilie LeBlanc, of Holly Springs High School (2017 graduate) and daughter of Stephane and Chantal LeBlanc, signed with the University of Maryland for a 4-year full scholarship.
• Alliah Harrison, of Middle Creek High School (2017 graduate) and daughter of Steven and Nadine Harrison, signed with Western Michigan University for a 5-year full scholarship.
• Lauren Kent, of Holly Springs High School (2017 graduate) and daughter of Fred and Pam Kent, signed with North Carolina State University for a 4-year full scholarship.
These gymnasts are coached by Heidi and Milan Stanovich, who together, bring over 50 years of coaching experience on the State, National and Collegiate levels.
“We are very proud of these girls and are especially pleased that all their years of hard work and training have paid off. We are happy for the girls, but will miss them when they go,” said head coach, Milan Stanovich.
