Many people have been trying to follow the updates on 540 closely.
Few are as engaged as our Mayor. Mayor Sears has been proactive on making sure that the route that is ultimately chosen to finish the 540 loop has minimal impact on the community of Holly Springs.
Not only is he the board chair on decision committee for the route, but he has been working closely with the Mayor of Garner and the Mayor of Fuquay-Varina to make sure they are a united front.
The route of choice? That would be the Orange route. The Wake County Mayors’ Association has already signed off on the Orange Route, and DOT has confirmed that it would be the least expensive choice.
The Town is opposed to the purple route as is it would impact Sunset Oaks neighborhood and town parkland. The orange route would run further north, closer to Ten-Ten.
The Mayor says they he has been told that they could have an update for him before the end of this year.
