Getting out for a hike, jog, or bicycle ride in Holly Springs just got more convenient with the Holly Springs Greenway Finder, the Town’s new interactive trails map. The recently launched digital map is just in time for the opening of the 3-mile Middle Creek Greenway, planned for late August.
Visit hollyspringsnc.gov/trails to view the map showing greenways, trails, and sidewalks. The digital tool is accessible from both mobile devices and desktop computers.
“The greenway finder interactive map is a game changer for Holly Springs trail users,” said Holly Springs Parks & Recreation Director LeeAnn Plumer. “With this new digital resource, it’s now easy to find trail access points, parking, trail surface types, and more.”
Visitors also can find photos of trails and links to webpages about larger greenway segments that provide more detailed information. Users can select the location button to view their position on the map, and trails can be filtered by trail type and length. Zooming in on the map shows neighborhood sidewalks and additional details. If desired, users can change the base map background for a different view.
“We’re excited to offer this new map that will help our community take advantage of all types of trails and side paths in Holly Springs,” Plumer said “As our trail system continues to grow, this interactive digital tool will continue to be updated and serve as a resource for people who want to enjoy a hike, run, or bicycle ride around town.”
About Middle Creek Greenway
The map will receive its first significant update with the anticipated opening of the Middle Creek Greenway in late August. The greenway runs along Middle Creek, between Sunset Lake and Holly Springs roads—connecting with neighborhoods in between, including Arbor Creek, Bridgewater, Woodcreek, and Sunset Ridge North.
“The Middle Creek Greenway corridor is a significant addition to the Town’s greenway system,” Plumer said. “As it follows the pathway of Middle Creek, generally, visitors will be able to enjoy nature and a variety of wildlife while enjoying the convenience of a trail that connects to two major thoroughfares in Holly Springs.”
Soon, a sidewalk connection along Holly Springs Road will connect the greenway to downtown Holly Springs. Additionally, Apex is building a greenway connection, so trail users will be able to enjoy a regional link to the north.
The Middle Creek Greenway was constructed partly with remaining funding from the Town’s first Parks Bond, which was passed by voters in 2011. As construction wraps up, please do not cross construction fencing or tamper with any equipment on site.
