If you weren’t in the audience on October 16th or 17th when the actors from the Civitan group took the stage, then you missed a wonderful experience.
This was not their first show, and certainly not their last. The group performed for 3 sold-out shows at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.
This performance of The Oz Wizard was nothing short of spectacular. Unlike the pros, these performers will warm you to the core.
So who are these performers? Their website says it best:
TOCS provides a performing arts vehicle for people regardless of their level of experience, abilities or disabilities, and promotes inclusion and community spirit. It is presented in a welcoming environment and is committed to developing social and performance skills, building self-esteem, discipline, responsibility, and positive values through the creative arts.
Individuals from all over the Raleigh triangle area meet at the Holly Springs Cultural Arts Center and our performances are held in their beautiful 186 seat performing arts theater.
This is no static show. The audience is engaged and involved (by choice). The show never gets dull because it never slows down. The music, singing and dancing energizes the actors and audience alike.
The ensemble is a mix of actors, with a wide array of talents. This particular performance featured two Dorothys, two totos, multiple wicked witches, good witches, scarecrows, lions and tin men.
The Program Creator of the theater initiative is Alan Rosen, President of The Holly Springs Civitan Club. Not only does Alan do a wonderful job accompanying the actors on the keyboard, but he’s quite the entertainer himself.
Again; I can’t stress enough that these shows will move you like no other, and the performers are bursting at the seems with talent, enthusiasm and moxie.
The Program Coordinators were Alan Rosen, Tami Starr and Kim Sharp. Everyone involved in the program is a volunteer.
The Civitan Club will be starting their next program on March 2nd, with shows on April 15th & 16th. Those interested in being a part of it can register at Holly Springs Parks and Recreation. You can also contact Alan Rosen at 609•472•1260 or email at alan@togetheroncenterstage.org
