UNC Rex Healthcare had their groundbreaking ceremony in Holly Springs on March 14, 2019. The 7-story, 50-bed community hospital is scheduled to open in 2021. The hospital will be at 781 Avent Ferry Road, on the same campus as the current Rex facility. The building will be 7 stories above ground, and one story below ground.
The full-service hospital will give Holly Springs its first 24/7 hospital emergency room, and will also have a designated Labor & Delivery department, and operating rooms for a wide range of surgeries, inpatient beds and more. The idea of having a local ER, and to be able to go to a hospital in Holly Springs to deliver their baby, is exciting to many.
