The Yard Waste Convenience Center is moving soon to a new, expanded location to better serve Holly Springs residents.
Since its opening in 2023, the convenience center has been a popular choice for residents who want to drop off yard waste on their own schedule or dispose of large quantities of yard waste without paying for curbside pickup of excessive amounts. Now, three years later, the Town has outgrown the convenience center’s original location and is opening a larger facility in central Holly Springs.
“When the Yard Waste Convenience Center first opened, early operations brought in just over 25 tons over the course of several months. Today, totals have exceeded 464.57 tons for that same timeframe,” said Holly Springs Solid Waste Manager Freddie Rodriguez. “The Town’s new facility has an expanded physical footprint and has upgraded processing capabilities, ensuring it will keep up with demand now and into the future.”
The new Yard Waste Convenience Center will be located at 361 Bumgardner Drive at the Town’s Operations Campus in the Holly Springs Business Park. Anticipated to open in September, the new location will be open 7 days a week, 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. There, residents can drop off any amount of yard debris like grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and shrubbery at no charge. Just bring proof of Holly Springs residence, such as a driver’s license or utility bill. The Yard Waste Convenience Center does not accept materials such as rocks, dirt, concrete, construction debris, or treated lumber.

Fall Yard Waste Sweep
The Fall Yard Waste Sweep is just around the corner, October 12-16. During the seasonal sweeps, the Town provides fee-free curbside collection for any volume of acceptable waste.
To get the most out of town-wide cleanups, keep these tips in mind:
Place materials at the curb before the sweep week starts. Public Works crews begin moving quickly through zones once the sweep starts.
Don’t worry if a truck drives past your house and leaves behind your leaves. Crews collect large limbs and bulky items first, while specialized vacuum trucks follow behind on a second pass to clear loose leaves.
Regular, biweekly curbside cart collection continues as scheduled during sweep weeks.

Leaf Season Zone Collection
Leaf Season Zone Collection also begins in October in Holly Springs. Starting Monday, October 26, residents with excess leaves that don’t fit in a yard waste cart can place them at the edge of their front yard for collection during their zone’s scheduled week. View the schedule and more information at hollyspringsnc.gov/leaf.
Residents can help the collection run smoothly by placing leaf piles off the street and away from storm drains by 7 a.m. on Monday morning of their assigned collection week.
Only leaves should be placed at the curb. Limbs and sticks must go inside the yard waste cart for collection. Limbs and sticks mixed with leaf piles at the curb can damage leaf vacuum truck equipment, which could lead to service delays. Limbs and sticks that do not fit inside the yard waste cart can be taken to the new Yard Waste Convenience Center at 361 Bumgardner Drive.
Holly Springs Public Works plans to serve neighborhoods during their zone’s assigned week. Additionally, neighborhoods with high leaf volumes will be monitored, and the Town will address these areas as needed to ensure streets remain passable.
Ensure professional landscapers and tree service contractors remove all leaves and yard waste they handle.
