Flooring By Design is opening their doors in Holly Springs this month. The design center is located on Village Walk Drive in the Harris Teeter plaza at the corner of Hwy 55 bypass and Avent Ferry Road.
The company specializes in mid-to high-end flooring at reasonable prices. This is their second location, with the other location being in Durham. They feel that the economics of Holly Springs are a perfect fit for the quality products they offer. They carry wood, carpet, vinyl and ceramic (tile) flooring. They proudly sell Shaw products.

I know you’ve heard it all before. Construction is about to begin. Promise. At press time, they are waiting for one of the utilities which has a line running through the property. Once that has been resolved, we’re told construction will begin.
Rovisys has moved their Southeastern office from Apex to a brand new facility they built in Holly Springs. The building features over 26,000 square feet on almost 11 acres, with unique exterior design, an abundance of natural interior light, a fitness area, and many power saving/green building amenities. The company saw Holly Springs as being “one of the most attractive communities in the Triangle region, and offering an ideal location and ample space for future expansion.” Rovisys currently employs about 150 engineers, and plans to bring on 25-40 more in 2017. The plans for the building were set up in two phases. The current phase is done, and in 5-7 years they hope to add phase two, which will add another 25,000 square feet, with plans to employ 400-450 total staff by that time. Chris Otto, the Southeast Regional Manager for the company had this to say: “I’m excited that our new building is located at the global center of the biomedical and pharmaceutical industry. Holly Springs is an ideal location for us to attract the talent we need, improve our ability to service customers, engage new partners and deepen relationships.”
The RoviSys Company is a leading independent provider of information management solutions, manufacturing automation solutions, control systems integration, building automation, and enterprise and industrial networks. Rise Biscuits and Donuts
Going into Towne Center between My Eye Dr. and Verizon, Rise will be open daily from 7am to 2pm, serving up biscuits and donuts, as you would assume. According the the Rise website, “Our donut menu features an assortment of old school, new school, and specialty donuts with interesting and unusual flavors. Our biscuit menu features everyday favorite fillings like country ham, bacon, sausage, fried chicken, and fried eggplant “bacon,” as well as a variety of cheeses, spreads, and eggs. You choose it, we’ll make it. Our biscuit and donut specialty offerings change monthly, and each Rise location features its own, unique specialty biscuit & donut each month.” We don’t have a timeline right now, but they’re working on it.
Hickory Tavern is now under construction in the South Park Village Shopping center off of G.B Alford highway between Avent Ferry Road and Main Street. The 14,000 square foot complex is being developed by the Durban Group and when it is finished it will house one retail shop and three restaurants. One of these restaurants is set to become Hickory Tavern. On their website, the restaurant describes it as “a unique brand of casual dining, lively bar atmosphere, and sports enthusiasm that provides the perfect destination no matter what time of day.” The first Hickory Tavern was founded in 1997 and has grown to have business in 13 communities throughout North Carolina and Spartanburg, South Carolina. They continue to grow with an addition to our Holly Springs community.
Your days of traveling outside of Holly Springs to get a steak dinner will be over with the proposed addition of the Texas Roadhouse restaurant. This 7,400 square foot space is located off of NC Bypass 55 and Vinewood Place. Texas Roadhouse has locations in many different areas and is well known for its steak and also its fall-off-the-bone ribs and homemade Texas red chili. Yes it’s another chain, but at least it’s steak!
The Sportsmanship Way connection will provide a much needed connection from the Bypass to Main Street and will improve traffic distribution. This connection will also allow access to the North Main Athletic Complex from the NC55 Bypass. The improvements along NC55 Bypass include the construction of a left-turn lane onto Sportsmanship Way coming from the north (west) on the bypass as a right-turn lane onto Sportsmanship Way coming from the south (east) on the bypass, in conjunction with a signalized U-turn.
Besides the already mentioned benefit of easy access to the NMAC from NC55, the new connection will also reduce traffic on the western section of Sunset Lake Road, West Holly Springs Road, along the Bypass section south of the new connection, and the northern portion of Main Street between the NC55 Bypass and Sportsmanship Way.
Funding will be provided partially through federal funds (80%) and through Town funds (20%), for a total amount of $1,500,000. Construction is set to begin in late 2017.
