Pine Springs Middle School – Proposed
A three-story, 68,000-square-foot facility with 21 classrooms has been proposed to add on the current campus of Pine Springs Preparatory Academy. The school would have entrances at both North Main Street and from Rosewood Centre Drive, where the existing school is located.
Pine Springs Preparatory Academy is a K-8 charter school that was granted approval to open by the NC State Board of Education. The school opened as a K-6 school in September of 2017, and then added a grade level per year thereafter through 8th grade.
The new building would allow the school to move their current middle school students out of the original building.

Logging Road Zone Change – Proposed
A proposal has been submitted for a section of Logging Road to be zoned from R-20 Residential to R-10 Residential. In 2018, the property owners successfully had their land rezoned to R-20 Residential, which is a low-density residential zoning plan. It allows single-detached units on lots that are 20,000 square feet and above. R-20 Residential only allows for a maximum density of 1.75 units per acre. If rezoned to R-10, they will be allowed up to 3.25 units per acre, almost doubling the currently allotted density. The ten parcels that are included in the proposal total over 74 acres.
